Cawood Attorneys comprises out of a dedicated team of
attorneys spearheaded by Mr. Werner Cawood and we have made it our business to
be the experts in corporate restructuring.
During July 2011, when the Companies
and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) started appointing interim business
rescue practitioners, Mr. Werner Cawood was appointed as an interim business
rescue practitioner. Mr. Cawood was also involved in one of the first forceful
applications for business rescue in terms of Section 131 of the Act which we
succeeded with in the North Gauteng High Court.During November 2012, CIPC
recorded a total of 715 business rescue applications in South Africa. We are
proud to state that we have been directly and/or indirectly involved in more
than a tenth of that figure.
Through extensive investigation CIPC has found that
business rescue is an extremely involved process requiring various
professionally skilled individuals from a legal, financial and business
management background. In this regard we have joined forces with a dedicated
team of individuals that can cater for most any type of project in order to
Turn around and/or restructure financially distressed entities.
Through in depth
research into commercial law and specifically business rescue legislation, both
locally and internationally, we have come to realise the full potential of this
exciting industry in South Africa and we also specialize in giving advice on
all the boundless opportunities created by this new Act for any type of
business.
